Perbedaan Lama Waktu Alih Terapi Antibiotik pada Pasien Pneumonia Dengan Menggunakan Seftriakson dan Siprofloksasin di Rumah Sakit Haji Medan

Abstract

This research aims to know the differences a long time over the antibiotic therapy in patients of pneumonia by using seftriakson and ciprofloxacin in RS. Haji Terrain. The research is descriptive, using case studies of design series. Samples from the patient’s medical record pneumonia, research conducted in November – January 2017 respectively 73 samples that use seftriakson and ciprofloxacin.

The research results obtained by patients using seftriakson most apparent age 73-77 years (20.5%), male (54.8%), blood pressure <120mmHg (41,1%), respiratory frequency >20 x/minute (78.1%), pulse rate of 60-100 x/minute (61,6%), temperature of 36,5-37,5oC and > 37oC (39.7%), with clinical symptoms in the form of shortness of breath (82,2%), cough (71,2%), nausea (37.0%), fever (42.5%), vomiting (30.1%), leukocytes >11000/µl (87,7%), infiltrates (50,7%), hypertension (11,09%). Patients using ciprofloxacin most aged 70-79 years (20.5%), male (50,7%), blood pressure of 140-159mmHg (37.0%), respiratory frequency > 20 x/minute (70.7%), pulse rate of 60-100 x/minute (65.8%), temperature of 36.5 -37, 5oC (83,6%), shortness of breath (70.7%), cough (72,6%), nausea (20.5%), fever (43.8%), vomiting (30.1%), leukocytes >11000/µl (86,3%), infiltrates (54.8%), hypertension (15,1%). The average time over of therapy seftriakson 6,66 ± 2,38 day and ciprofloxacin 4,62 ± 3,10 day. Mann-whitney test was obtained p = 0.000 (p < 0.05) there is a difference in meaning between long time over seftriakson therapy with ciprofloxacin. Siproflokasasin had a great time over a shorter therapy compared to seftriakson.

Ethyl Acetate Extract Of Sabrang Onion (E. Bulbosa (Mill.) Urb.) Increases Apoptosis Of Widr Cells

Abstract

Cancer is one of the deadly diseases. Every year there’s an increase of cancer patients, one of which is colon cancer, which ranks third worldwide. Chemotherapy is a cancer treatment option with high effectiveness, but there are problems of drug resistance and side effects that limit the use of chemotherapy. Sabrang onion (E. bulbosa (Mill.) Urb.) One of the plants from Kalimantan, Indonesia which has a cytotoxic effect on colon cancer cells WiDr. This study aims to determine the apoptotic activity of Sabrang (E. bulbosa (Mill.) Urb.) Ethyl acetate extract on WiDr cells. The study was conducted in vitro on WiDr cells. The test was carried out by exposing ethyl acetate extract of sabrang onion to WiDr cells for 24 hours then apoptosis test was performed using the flowcytometry method in the Laboratory of Parasitology, Faculty of Medicine, Gadjah Mada Indonesia. The results of the study showed that sabrang onion ethyl acetate extract caused an increase in initial apoptosis and end apoptosis of WiDR cells and was concentration dependent.

Metformin Inhibits Growth of Breast Cancer Cell T47 through Decreasing Expression of Protein P53, BCL2, and Cyclin D1

Abstract

Background: Breast cancer is a disease that afflicts women only 0.5–1% are male breast cancers. Breast cancer has several variants and requires a different therapeutic approach, and until now, the therapy has not been satisfactory due to the emergence of resistance. Metformin is known to have a cytotoxic effect for breast cancer. Aims: This study aimed to analyze the metformin cytotoxic mechanisms covering the cell cycle, apoptosis, and expression of p53, bcl-2, and cyclin D1 T47D cells which exposed to metformin HCl. Method: The study was conducted in vitro on T47D breast cancer cells which exposed to metformin concentrations of 1738.2 μg/mL and 3476.4 μg/mL and doxorubicin concentrations of 0.1 μg/mL and 0.2 μg/mL for 24 h. Cell cycle testing and apoptosis using the flowcytometry method and expression test of p53 protein, bcl-2 and cycline D1 in T47D cells with immunocytochemistry. Data were analyzed by one-way ANOVA with Bonferroni’s advanced test. Result: The results showed that metformin inhibited the G0-G1 phase of the T47D cell cycle, triggered T47D cell apoptosis, and significantly reduced p53, bcl-2, and cyclin D1 protein expression (P <0.05). Conclusion: The conclusion of the study, metformin inhibits T47D cells through inhibition of the cell cycle G0-G1 phase, reducing protein expression p53, bcl-2, and cyclin D1.

Perbedaan Kepatuhan Mengkonsumsi Obat Oral Anti Diabetes Satu Kali, Dua Kali dan Tiga Kali Sehari pada Penderitas Diabetes Melitus Tipe 2

Abstract

Descriptive case study have been done in Puskesma Batang Kuis Deli Serdang district against 37 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients for two months. The aim of this study were knowing the difference compliance of oral anti diabetic for one, two and three times a day on type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. This study were prospective and sample determined in consecutive method. The results showed most patiens aged were 53-55 years old, female, intermediate education (senior high school). Twelve people consumed oral anti diabetic once a day, the average of compliance was 81.67 ± 18.98. Seven people consumed oral anti diabetic two times a day, the average of compliance was 84,71 ± 14,86. Eighteen people consumed oral anti diabetic three times a day, the average of compliance was 76.0 ± 13.44. By using Anova test obtained p = 0397, there was no difference in average compliance consumed oral anti diabetic for one, two and three times a day on type 2 diabetes mellitus patients.
